This or That: Books

Talking about books is something I love to do but unfortunately not everyone I talk to in ‘real life’ feels the same way so I’ve decided to not only join a book club but also to do more chatty book related posts on here, I hope you don’t mind!

Today I’m answering 10 ‘this or that’ style questions about books and it’s be great if you could join in too and let me know some of your answers in the comments!

Audiobook or textbook?

100% definitely textbook ALL THE WAY. I love the feeling of a book in my hands and reading the words on the pages. I think audiobooks are a great idea for travelling or even just commuting to work but they’ll never replace a textbook for me.

Paperback or hardback?

I personally prefer the feel of a paperback but I like the way a hardback looks on my shelf so I’d probably say that paperbacks are my ultimate favourite of the two.

Fiction or Non-Fiction?

I love a good Fiction book, anything to take me away from reality and everyday life is a win in my eyes so I’d definitely say this is my favourite! To be honest, the only non-fiction books I tend to read these days are cook-books or if I’m researching something.

Bookshop or Online?

I love walking around bookshops, discovering new authors and having a chat with the owner/ store assistent but with restraints on time and money I very often end up buying my books from Amazon, especially since so many of my books come as Christmas/ birthday presents.

Standalone or series?

Oohh I love a good series! I jump at the chance to delve deeper into the world of whatever I’m reading so if I’ve enjoyed a story then I’ll definitely want to find out what happens next.

Sweet and short or heavy and long?

There’s definitely a time and a place for each of these so it’s really hard to choose one over the other but I think I’m going to go with short and sweet right now (although that could very well change within half an hour) because I don’t have the time to sit and read a book from start to end at the moment and it’s easier to dip in and out of shorter books.

Cosy reading or reading in the sun?

Definitely cosy reading for me! Although I get a lot of reading done on hot holidays, I just love being wrapped up in a blanket with a hot chocolate in one hand and a good book in the other… bliss!

Crime or romance?

Oohhh this is a hard one! I love both genres very much so I’d have to say that Romance for a summer holiday and crime for curling up on the sofa in Winter…. If it has a bit of both then it’s ideal for me!

Lend it to a friend or keep it for yourself?

I love sharing books I’ve enjoyed with friends and family and have set up a scheme with some book bloggers where we’re all going to send each other a book which I’m pretty excited about!

Popular books or unheard of?

I like to have a balance of the two because I don’t like missing out on the books everyone else loves but I also like to discover my own hidden gems and be the first to tell my friends about them so I try to change it up each time I start a new book.

Here’s 5 books I’d recommend.

Loved this post, such a unique way to discuss books and reading! As much as I like my Kindle, I cannot see myself ever giving up on “real” books. I agree, holding a book, turning the pages is such a different feeling. And to be honest, I spend so much time staring at a computer screen, it’s refreshing to read a normal book:) I love bookstores as well, but I’m also a big fan of the Amazon Daily Kindle Deals – sometimes you can really score some gems for 2 or 3 dollars.

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you! I don’t know if I’ll be able to fit in a post about it anytime soon because I’m so busy but I’ll try to get one done when I get a chance xx
